A Wilhelm Scream is a punk rock/melodic hardcore band from New Bedford, Massachusetts. Many people have referenced Strung Out, Hot Water Music, Propagandhi, and Strike Anywhere as the band's similar artists. Their name is a reference to the Wilhelm scream, a famous stock sound effect which mainly is used in films. The band previously went by the names Smackin' Isaiah and Koen. The reason for the name changes is unknown.

Recently A Wilhelm Scream were in the studio at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado with legendary punk producer Bill Stevenson, and finished recording the new album. According to the band's official website the album will be "very very fast" and a few songs were dropped because they weren't fast enough. The first released song off the new album, titled Career Suicide, was a demo of the song "5 to 9" with an accompanying video.

Career Suicide represents the third trip to the Bill Stevenson / Jason Livermore well, a well neither dry nor stale. Career Suicide is just as smart, just as anthemic as Mute Print and Ruiner , but this time around A Wilhelm Scream speeds up their formula to a neck-breaking pace. And with a new bass-player, Brian Robinson, who keeps up with, and even pushes, the maniacal guitar duo of Reilly-Levesque, Career Suicide thoroughly pummels. That¢s saying something about a band that's never pulled punches.
