Downstage Performance Society Presents: LOVE BIRDS
As part of the Birds and Stone Series

Three untraditional tales of romance, just in time for Valentine's!
Consisting of: an anatomy of everything by Petit Chat Punk, STAT(us): Love in 20-Second Sound Bites by Melanie Jones and Suzy by Truus Verkley.
An Anatomy of Everything:
by Petit Chat Punk
Written and Performed by James Dangerous and Jocelyn Grossé,
with the assistance of Donald Jones
Music, dance and poetry meet in an anthropomorphic creation that walks the fine line between human and animal. Playing with biology, social behaviour and the nature of humanity, Petit Chat Punk crafts a tale of strange yet familiar creatures.
STAT(us):
Written and Performed by Melanie Jones
Directed by Andrea Brassart
Love in 20-Second Sound Bites: A prime-time, channel-surfing, ratings-starved, celebrity-obsessed, skinny-jeans look at love in the Information Age, featuring CityTV’s Dating Dame. Tune in as a television romance reporter’s search for a Hollywood ending gets pre-empted by the static of real life and true love.
Suzy:
Choreographed and Performed by Truus Verkley
Video and Music by Chad VonHagen
Fluttering eyelashes, beating hearts, lips upturned for a kiss: the physical vocabulary of romance comes to life in this original dance creation. Journey through the ups and downs of a relationship’s emotional cycle, and watch how the body changes as emotions fade and flare.
